Boxing Day Skating

On Boxing Day, Grandpa cleared off the snow on one of the dugout ponds so we could all go skating.

Everyone helps out with shovels

Daymond helps, too.

Angil arrives in a modified toboggan

I got a video camera for Christmas and made this movie about Daymond's first skating experience.

Gingerbread House

Auntie Erika invited us over for a gingerbread house making party. She did an AMAZING job making the pieces from scratch.
Daymond had a blast putting the candy on the house.

Update: December 30, Mmmmmmm it was tasty!!

Daymond's Drawings

Daymond has started to draw pictures. His favorite thing to draw is a car. I'm truly impressed that the drawings actually look like a car (okay you have to use some imagination)

The blobs are a door and window. As you can see, the door has a handle.

Daymond informed me that this was a picture of my van on the grass

This picture was drawn a few days later and you can see how it has evolved into a dome-like car not unlike the Little Tykes Cozy coupe that Daymond pines for when we go to friends' houses who have them. See below.

This is a car on a road, according to Daymond.

Refurbished Teeter

We refurbished a friend's teeter as payment for borrowing it. It was a life saver to FINALLY teach Lira how to do the teeter without me holding on to her.

SNC Lavalin Christmas Party

We went to Chris' work xmas party for kids. We could not get a picture of Daymond with Santa because we couldn't get him near enough.

But he had no problem with the art cows in the parking lot!!

October 31, 2009 - Halloween

On the way out!

Daymond was so excited to go trick or treating. I was so surprised by his enthusiasm. Usually a shy boy, he would walk to the door on his own and say "Trick or Treat" to get some Candy.

I was certain he would of hidden behind our legs but I guess candy is a BIG motivator for kids.
The most amusing thing he did was when kids came to the door for candy, he would hand the candy out (one per kid, he had to conserve I guess) and then he would say "Thank you - ?" and he would say the name of the costume. (ex. Thank you Giraffe, thank you horsie)

October 14, 2009

For the past 2 days it's been snowing in Calgary and today it warmed up enough to make snowman snow. Rarely do we have this kind of snow here so we had to take advantage of the moment.

Nova says "I so WANT that carrot!"

Daymond didn't really want anything to do with the snowman so I had to ask him to touch it's nose to get him to stand near it.

After telling Nova over and over not to eat the carrot/nose, when I told him he could, he didn't believe me. Lira, on the other hand, had no problem taking the carrot from the snowman.

Just some pictures I took. I can't remember why Daymond is showing his hand to me. I think he has an owwie on it.

This Labor Day weekend, we went up for our 2nd annual camping trip in Slave Lake. Although it didn't rain, it was pretty cold and windy. We were still able to go fishing and this year Dennis was the star with a very large Walleye. (unfortunately if freed itself from the chain and everyone had to settle for Pike for dinner that night - except Daymond and me, yuck fish!)

August 15, 2009

We planned a camping trip with Pat and Alicia Crampton and family this weekend but the weather was not cooperating. Since it was cold and rainy on Friday, instead we went to an indoor playground and then went out for dinner. We headed out Saturday morning to a campground by Exshaw. The rain held out for the most part and we were able to spend most of the day out in the open.

At one point, we needed to put up tarps to protect us from some of the showers that fell.

August 12, 2009 - Lira's Belated Birthday

On August 7, Lira turned 3 years old. Here are some latest pictures of her.
Also, this past week, Lira and Nova competed in the Alberta Kennel Club dog show. They were both entered in Rally Novice and some Agility classes. Although, we were unsuccessful at the agility, both dogs got their Rally Novice titles in 4 trials. Nova got one First in class and 2 thirds. Lira just scraped by with pretty low scores so there will be some work to do with her before we advance to the Advanced Class.

We went to Peace River for Chris' cousin Chad's wedding this weekend and after a night of partying, the boys got some much needed rest on the long ride home to Calgary.
